Meet the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype

A short time ago in this space, we mentioned some new Acura vehicles that debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. This week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of the more important debuts: the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype, which is expected to be available to the Hampton, VA customers before year’s end.

What makes this a particularly exciting offering? After all, we have the 2018 Acura RDX in stock right now, so it’s not like we’ve never seen an Acura SUV before. Then again, we’ve never seen one quite like this, and you haven’t either.

That’s because the 2019 Acura RDX heralds a new direction for the company. The new design is particularly striking, but its features underline that this new direction is more than skin deep.

Among the nuggets buried in an Acura press release:

This is the first design based wholly — inside and out — on the successful Acura Precision Concept

The powertrain will be underpinned by a turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC engine with improved low-end torque

It will feature the first ten-speed transmission in the segment

Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), with advanced torque vectoring, will be available

710 watt Acura ELS Studio 3D 16-channel sound system

Expanded use of premium materials, including Napa leather, Olive Ash wood, and brushed aluminum

New standard features include a True Touchpad interface and panoramic roof

Due at Acura dealerships by mid-2018

We’re also pleased to report that all 2019 Acura RDX models will come equipped with AcuraWatch™ safety and driver-assist technology. This includes next-generation AcuraLink® with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Hill Start Assist, Surround-View Camera System, front and rear parking sensors, Rear Cross-Traffic Monitor and Blind-Spot Information system.

By now we’re sure you can see why we’re excited to welcome this new Acura SUV to Hall Acura Newport News. We hope you’ll be here when we roll out the welcome mat. For more information, or to test drive a new Acura SUV, visit us at 12501 Jefferson Ave., today.
