2019 Acura MDX A-Spec Preview

The 2019 Acura TLX A-Spec and the 2019 Acura RDX are getting a lot of press lately. One new Acura vehicle has practically gotten lost in the shuffle, given a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it preview at this year’s New York Auto Show. So let’s take a closer look at the 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec ahead of its arrival at Hall Acura Newport News.

Let’s start with what’s shared among all Acura MDX models: Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are standard equipment. More importantly, so are AcuraWatch™ active safety and driver assist technologies like lane departure warning, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and forward collision warning. It also features the same powertrain as its stablemates, a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired to a nine-speed transmission.

So what sets the Acura MDX A-Spec apart? For starters, it comes standard with the brand’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system with torque vectoring. 20-inch Shark Grey alloy wheels with ten spokes, chrome surrounds for the headlights, and more pronounced exhaust finishers also feature prominently. The front fascia is also different for A-Spec models.

There’s even more on offer inside the cabin. Each of the three rows of seating are treated to red or black leather with contrast stitching and black inserts. The A-Spec trim also gets its own gauges, sport pedals, a thicker steering wheel with paddle shifters, and other touches.

This is part of a wider strategy to bring the A-Spec trim to all new Acura models over the next few years. It’s also worth noting that the company isn’t stopping there; before long, luxury car buyers will again see the Type-S performance variant return to the fold. It’s something of a return to form, since the Acura brand’s early reputation was built as much on sport as on style.

We hope you’re as excited for the upcoming 2019 Acura models as we are. For more information,  visit Hall Acura Newport News at 12501 Jefferson Ave., today!
